American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews has announced the 2007-08 recipients of three awards for excellence and service to the league. The announcement came Thursday at the closing reception and awards dinner to conclude the league’s annual meeting of the Board of Governors at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The AHL announced today the 2007-08 recipients of the James H. Ellery Memorial Awards, presented annually in recognition of outstanding media coverage. This year’s winners are Lindsay Kramer of the Syracuse Post-Standard (newspaper); Manchester Monarchs play-by-play broadcaster Ken Cail (radio); and Tim Doty of FOX 17 in Grand Rapids (TV).

The American Hockey League announced today that Barry Brust of the Houston Aeros has been named the Rbk X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for April. Brust stopped 110 of 116 shots in five appearances, posting a 1.22 goals-against average and .948 save percentage to help Houston secure a berth in the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The American Hockey League announced today that Syracuse Crunch center Derick Brassard has been named the Rbk Edge/AHL Rookie of the Month for April. Brassard registered 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) and a plus-7 rating in seven games as the Crunch closed out the regular season on a 15-game winning streak.
